A Fun-Filled Awards Celebration
During the March 14 awards celebration featuring healthy snacks, activities, and entertainment, KinderMender staff members tallied students’ points and awarded Gorman Crossing Elementary School’s PTA with the top prize of $1,000. All participating students received a certificate of achievement and the PTAs at Laurel Woods Elementary and Scotchtown Hills Elementary each received $100 just for participating in the Decathlon. Last year’s winner was Scotchtown Hills Elementary School.
“We started the Decathlon to celebrate our Laurel location’s first year of service to the community, but I’m so glad we decided to make it an annual event,” said Dr. Keyvan Rafei, KinderMender’s founder and Medical Director. “It helps remind children that being healthy requires ongoing effort, plus we get to reward local PTAs every year – what could be better?”
In addition to its Laurel, Md. location, opened in 2012, KinderMender opened its Columbia, Md. location in 2011 and its Glen Burnie, Md. location in 2015.
