Columbia, MD, Nov. 30, 2016 – Little more than a year has passed since KinderMender celebrated its 100,000th patient visit in June of 2015. This month, the pediatric urgent care center officially doubled that tally.
KinderMender’s 200,000th patient was a 3-year-old who arrived at the family-friendly pediatric facility with a bead stuck in his nose. Interestingly, the 100,000th patient had been that of a 2-year old toddler needing a woodchip removed from his ear.
Unlike the foreign object – which was promptly and successfully extracted –KinderMender intends to stick around for some time.
The full-service, walk-in pediatric center is the brainchild of Dr. Keyvan Rafei, who opened the Columbia, Md., office in 2011, envisioning a clinic that would break the mold of the stuffy, scary doctor’s visit with a relaxed, congenial atmosphere and a friendly, honest relationship with families.
Rapid growth led to the opening of a Laurel location in 2013, followed by a Glen Burnie clinic in 2015.
Currently celebrating its fifth anniversary of healing happy families, KinderMender continues to make strides in family health care, and was recently named Best Urgent Care by the Maryland Gazette Reader’s Choice Awards.
“We truly are blessed with an incredible team that provides great services to our community, while allowing so many colleagues an opportunity to thrive, grow and provide for their loved ones,” said Dr. Rafei. “We are already looking forward to our 300,000th visit – and whatever foreign body he or she may bring along.”
